Meet Attorney Thomas

Dayna Thomas, Esq. is a trusted and influential entertainment and entrepreneurship attorney and author in the Atlanta area and nationwide. Named as one of Georgia Trend's LEGAL ELITE, Dayna thrives on helping people build their lives, careers, and businesses with the support of the law. She focuses her practice on assisting entrepreneurs and entertainers in reaching their goals, protecting their businesses, and building strong personal and professional brands. Dayna handles everything from business entity formation, operating agreements and bylaws, investor relations and funding, contract drafting and negotiation, trademark and brand protection, product licensing, and more.

Early into her career, Dayna acknowledged her true passion for entrepreneurship. Prior to starting The Law Office of Dayna Thomas, Dayna founded a business consulting company where she helped entrepreneurs establish their business entities and advised them on business strategies to develop their business idea, understand their target market, create their brand, and build relationships. A few years later and just ten months after graduating law school, she founded The Law Office of Dayna Thomas, LLC.

During the first six months of launching her firm, Dayna served over fifty small businesses and helped her clients secure over six-figures in investor funds. Along with providing legal services, Dayna also coaches clients through the startup process and serves as a speaker for conferences, podcasts, webinars, radio shows and other events to educate and empower aspiring and new entrepreneurs and teach them how to develop a winning entrepreneurial mindset. She is also the author of “Entrepreneur’s Guide To Building A Solid Legal Foundation,” in which she exposes entrepreneurs to the fundamentals of business law to help them prepare their business for wild success.

Within her entertainment practice, Dayna has been involved in deals for television shows on major networks such as NBC Universal, OWN, MTV, VH1, BET, E!, A&E, WE tv, and for "MasterChef" on FOX, and has negotiated deals for Grammy award-winning and multi-platinum recording artists as well as music producers, literary authors, screen play writers, and film producers.

Certified in transactions, Dayna received her Doctor of Law from Emory University School of Law, a legal journey that began with a very interesting and inspiring story. Her participation in the Transactional Law Certificate Program allowed her to focus her studies on contract drafting and negotiation, particularly in the areas of intellectual property and business law. Dayna also gained significant exposure to business litigation as a clerk for two judges in the Eighth Judicial District Court in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she reviewed filings for breach of contract and other business disputes and made recommendations for the judges’ ruling.

Prior to attending law school, Dayna graduated magna cum laude and in the top 3% of her class at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing.

Dayna currently serves as the Georgia Section Director for Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, tasked with ensuring that members in the entire state develop into principled business leaders. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Future Music Attorneys, a program designed for college students and law students across the country who aspire to become music attorneys, and The Black Burdell, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded to support, promote, and cultivate black-owned businesses.

Dayna’s life motto is “believe and act as if it were impossible to fail,” which is instrumental to her work and value as a legal professional. Her commitment to her community has been nationally recognized as she received President Barack Obama's Volunteer Service Award for her dedication to education, income, health, and homelessness initiatives in the city of Atlanta. In her daily grind, Dayna is dedicated to helping aspiring and current entrepreneurs make more money and live more fulfilled lives. In her free time, Dayna enjoys traveling, eating at exotic restaurants, and going to her favorite artists’ concerts.
